Fox has often been compared to actress, Angelina Jolie by the media dubbing her as an “Angelina clone”, “Angelina 2.0” and “Angelina Jr.” among others. Fox has been compared to Jolie because of their “tattoo collection”, and “built in sex-symbol”.
Fox said of the comparisons that “I think it’s a lack of creativity on the media’s part. Because I have tattoos and dark hair and I was in an action movie? That’s as far as the similarities extend. I’m not the next anyone.”, and that “She always seems otherworldly in her power and her confidence,” Fox says. “I’m sure she has no idea who I am. But if I were her, I’d be like, ‘Who the fuck is this little bullshit brat who was in Transformers that’s going to be the next me?’ I don’t want to meet her. I’d be embarrassed.” Fox was also said to have been replacing Jolie in the next Lara Croft film, but Fox turned down the role saying that “There have been a lot of films I’ve had to pass on because I don’t want people thinking I’m trying to emulate her.” Fox also said of meeting Jolie that she be “afraid” and continuing with that “I’m actually frightened of her,” also saying that “I haven’t had the opportunity to meet her and I try to avoid that because I’m afraid. of her and that”, and that “She’s (Jolie) a powerful human being, she could eat me alive.”
Fox has been involved with actor Brian Austin Green of Beverly Hills, 90210 and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles fame since 2004, having first met on the set of Fox’s show Hope & Faith. Fox’s favorite comic book by Turner is Fathom, which she describes as “one of her longtime obsessions”. Fox also has two dogs, including a pomeranian named after the punk-icon Sid Vicious.
Fox has openly stated that she’s taken drugs saying that, “I’ve done drugs, and that’s how I know I don’t like them.”, saying that she’d “tried several things” in order to “make an informed decision” but that she “didn’t enjoy anything other than marijuana.”. Fox also said that “Cocaine is back with a vengeance … Celebrities aren’t trying to hide it, except when people have camera phones.”, and commenting that “I know about five people who aren’t on drugs today, and I’m one of them.” Fox has also openly stated that she supports the legalization of marijuana. Saying that “I don’t even think of it as a drug — it should be legalized.”, and continuing with “When they do, I’ll be the first person in line to buy my pack of joints.” and that “I can’t tell you how much bullshit I’ve been through because I will openly say that I smoke weed. People look at it like it’s this crazy, hippy, fucked-up thing to do. And it’s not. I hope they legalise it.”
In a frank interview with GQ Magazine, Fox claimed that she once fell in love and sought to establish a relationship with a female stripper when she was 18 years old. Fox used the experience to illustrate her belief that, “…all humans are born with the ability to be attracted to both sexes.” On May 14, 2009 Fox stated that she is bisexual, saying “I have no question in my mind about being bisexual.”
In June 2009, during a Transformers promo tour in Korea, Fox was asked how she would stop Megatron from demolishing the world. She replied, “I’d make a deal with him and instead of the entire planet, can you just take out all of the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in Middle America?” This response was panned by the conservative NewsBusters, writing that “While Fox may be a star on the big screen, her words certainly don’t make her shine.” The Naples Daily News was also highly critical of her comments.
